Plot Summary
When his parents decide to go to a swanky suburban party, Scott (Speedman) decides to host his own soirée. Since his mother is so uptight about having a perfect home that she won’t let teenagers into her living room, he calls it a kitchen party. Scott’s friends find it difficult to unwind as they know that any damage to the house will condemn their host to four years at a local college instead of a fancy out-of-town university. The adult party across town goes well until everyone gets drunk and disorderly. Back at Scott’s house, things take a similarly downward turn after his girlfriend Tammy goes off with his mysterious, anti-social brother, Steve. “A scathingly funny satire.” —Stephen Holden, The New York Times
