REEL CANADA Brings "Welcome to Canada" Programme to Calgary

Our second event in Alberta will be taking place on April 11th in Calgary at the Eau Claire Market Cinemas. Over 600 adult ESL students from Bow Valley College will be attending, to watch IRON ROAD (with star Luke Macfarlane in attendace) and HOW SHE MOVE (with star Dwain Murphy in attendance). Both feature films will also be screened with the Oscar nominated short animation WILD LIFE, with Calgary based filmmakers/animators Wendy Tilby and Amanda Forbis also on hand to answer students' questions.
This is our first ESL event outside of Ontario, marking the start of the expansion of our "Welcome to Canada" programme, which is aimed at newcomers to Canada and English language learners across the country. Putting this event on in partnership with Bow Valley College and the Calgary Cinematheque has allowed us to put down roots in Alberta's largest city, which we hope will grow into a strong presence for REEL CANADA across the province. We can't wait for tomorrow's festival!
This event was made possible with the generous support of RBC Foundation and Shaw Media.
